NNG UX Atlas is a powerful tool for designing and developing applications for multi-display and multi-device deployment across all user interfaces in the connected vehicle environment. I’m proud to help design and build this product everyday.

As part of the UX Division at NNG, I have worked on a team of brilliant designers, developers, project managers, and a world class UX Director. We conceptualize features individually and as a team.

The Story

This project has extended over multiple years with several designers working on literally dozens and dozens of features. I am the senior UX/UI Designer for the project. In that role I have performed as the scrum-master and worked closely with the Product Owner and Director of UX at NNG. I design many of the UX features and UI assets in the tool itself on a regular basis. I perform a good deal of the technical documentation in CONFLUENCE used by developers to build this incredible multi-display deploying tool. I also write JIRA stories and groom our KANBAN board with the Project Manager. NNG UX Atlas has been used in NNG partnerships with Mitsubishi, Honda, Jaguar Land Rover, Ferrari, and others.

Untold amounts of sketching and building out comps have been done on the UX Atlas project over the course of its development. Teams from several states throughout the US, Hungary, and Asia have worked on this product.

Prototoypes

AudioVoxx Rear Seat Entertainment Prototype

This project was a rapid turn around for an AudioVoxx RSE infotainment system that uses a physical remote control. One of the limitations of the UI was that it needed to be able to be used either with the remote on the more economical package, or with a touch screen display on the luxury package. The design solved for that parameter well.

Project Judy Login Prototype

An early version of a login for a suite of visual and editing software used in the automotive navigation and infotainment system.

I was responsible for utilizing the visual vocabulary developed by myself and others on our team to design both the layout and the UX of this set of features. Because we build out rapidly, this protoype only demonstrates some of the intended features.

UX Atlas Nested Containers Prototype

One of the most basic features necessary for UX Atlas to be a usable tool is the need for containers. As a result, I was charged with defining, prototyping and writing the specification documentation for how it was meant to function. This included basic and advanced capabilities such as nesting containers.
