T-Shirt Illustration and design for the launch of NNG’s auto OEM application design and development platform for automotive navigation, infotainment, and the future of driving.
The VP over NNG North America wanted to do a special T-shirt for the launch of the design and development product my team had been working on for some time. My boss, the Director of UX, pushed the task to me after a meeting from which the main direction was, “We were thinking of maybe a Totem or something. Figure it out.”
The Story
So I sketched. As usual. But ideas were all really lame. And I wasn’t happy at all with the style. But it was time to be done.… so I handed that last one off. Everyone hated it as much as I did. But I was off the hook technically.
But I just really wanted to make something for this team and this product that I had worked so hard for that I couldn’t just let it fly. So I whipped out this little vector and sent it to the boss to see if I ought to give it one more shot. I stayed up the remainder of the night and finished the illustrations and design before the final deadline. Why should a UI/UX designer care about a T-shirt? Because everything matters…. Because UX Designers like to make people happy… And besides, it’s a cool story.
